Location
South Africa has a coastline that is approximately 3000km long; that said, you can imagine how much surf we have along our coastline. South Atlantic storms kicking up swell that has to reach us first. Because of our proximity to the South Pole and the southern ocean and of course our LONG coastline we can offer many different surf spots all the way along the coach. Each offering their own conditions which makes it accessible to everyone whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advance. Brent who runs DRUM AFRICA SURF SAFARIS has surfed this coastline for over 20 years. He would love to show you all the secrets that the various spots have to offer and can probably tell you stories about every spot. Of course he has his own favourites and would be more than willing to share new memories with you. We are happy to cater for beginners, everyone has to start somewhere right? If you are a first timer who would like to learn how to surf in sunny South Africa, we can set you up with a well established surf school based at arguably THE safest and best beach in the country to learn surfing at.
The greatest advantage for anyone wanting to surf in South Africa is our weak currency, particularly to the US dollar and the UK pound. South Africa offers the surf traveler great value for money. Add in the fact that we have unlimited access to consistent good surf, I'd say that would make this the trip of a lifetime. We can tailor make a surf trip or you can have a look at our tour package. We prefer not to take more than 6 surfers on one trip at a time, giving everyone on the trip a chance to catch as many waves as possible and not overcrowd the breaks for the locals. Speaking of the locals, they are generally very friendly and helpful to foreigners, willing to share their wave and maybe even a beer or two afterward, can you think of a better way to experience South Africa?
