This weekend saw the 15th Cape Point Challenge, with almost 60 boats entered it was a great success. Winds varying from 30knots to 5 knots in big swells off Smitswinkel bay made for a hard sailed event. Well done to Matthew Whitehead and Caleen for their oustanding performance. Overall winner went to Jimie Cairns on a Hobie 14. An exceptional win for Jimie, WELL DONE! Cape Point Challenge this year saw the biggest fleet of Hobie Tigers on the water since the Tiger worlds last year. Almost a year to the date. Winds were mainly from the South, South East. A few broken boats but no major incidents reported. All sailors made it safely back. There were more broken sailors than boats after a hard working sail. Thank you to Fish Hoek Beach Sailing club for the arrangements and a good event again. To the sponsors Sigma Coatings, thank you for your support again in this event.
