South Africa has successfully hosted large sporting events, including the 1995 Rugby World Cup, the 2003 Cricket World Cup, the Women's World Cup of Golf in 2005 and 2006 and, in January 2006, the only street race in the inaugural A1 GP World Cup of Motorsport.
In 2010 South Africa will get the chance to host one of the biggest sporting events after the Olympic Games - the FIFA World Cup Soccer 2010.
From the 11th of June to the 11th of July the eyes of the World will be on South Africa and we do aim to please. It is estimated that around 3 million international visitors and international sporting media will have their eye on little old South Africa.
Since the announcement made on the 15th of May 2004 that South Africa won the bid to host, South Africa had to look at upgrading the infrastructure. This includes the transport, stadiums and telecommunications. Guests to our lovely country can expect more than just the friendly hospitality that South Africa is so well know for, now they can expect state of the art technology as well.
