The Wavescapes Surf Festival is officially underway, with the exhibition of the Surf Art boards open to the public.
Hanging seemingly weightless at the trendy Depasco cafe, the surf art boards have already caused a stir on Cape Town's busiest street corner.
With top artists from around the country contributing to the collection, the exhibition displays varied and thought provoking work that reflects what's on the minds of SA's most acclaimed creatives.
This year the artists were given free range thematically, and the results have been astounding, with everything from Mshini Wam references to the impending apocalypse of global warming.
The exhibition runs until the 9th of December, when the boards will be auctioned off by funnyman Mark Sampson, with proceeds going to ocean charities.
Depasco is situated on the corner of Kloof and Buitensingel in Cape Town.
