This family owned and operated Big Five safari lodge is a gem situated in the heart of the Timbavati.

Motswari, which means “to conserve and protect” in the Tswana language is not just a randomly chosen name. No, this is one of the objectives that they strive for everyday. It is their promise to you as a guest and everyone who is involved with Motswari Private Game Reserve, to ensure the safety of guests and animals at all times and make your stay as memorable as possible. Guests are treated like family and you will feel right at home in the luxury lodge.

With only 15 chalets, no more than 30 guests at one given time are guaranteed. The naturally decorated rooms ensure that truly African feel and reflect what is going on just outside your door. The food also reflects the Motswari promise of true African cuisine, excellence at all times with total attention to details, not to mention outstanding taste. You won’t want to leave. Art and nature go hand in hand and natural art is evident all around the property and in the rooms. Wood, stone and bone is the material used and local sculptures happily display their beautiful work in the sculpture garden. Artists are encourage to add to this ever growing garden. The open boundary between the Kruger and Motswari means more space to explore and more animals to spot. Besides the Big Five there are many plains game roaming around and if you don’t see them during the extended 3 and a half hour game drive in the morning or the evening, I am sure you will spot them during the private bush walks. Guides are highly qualified and happy to answer any questions you might throw at them. They would love to share their knowledge of the area with you and have many bushvelt stories on hand. Most of the guides are residents of the area and while do their best to ensure you see all of the Big Five, no guarantees I’m afraid but they love the challenge.
