The Splendid Cape and Cederberg

Location

The self drive tour of the Splendid Cape and Cederberg area will give you a taste of our country. Travel is only about 3 hours outside of Cape Town to the East and the North.

Day One to Five
Arriving in Cape Town you will be collected by a DEAT Registered Guide who will drive you to the Cellars Hohenhort. You will spend four relaxing nights in this luxury property in the heart of the Constantia Winelands. A car will be delivered so that you can explore the Cape in your own time for the next 3 days. We’ve included a private tour of your choice being either the Peninsula or the Winelands. During the Whale season you might prefer a tour to Hermanus to enjoy the best land based whale viewing.
Day Five to Eight
A scenic three hour drive will take you to Bushman’s Kloof Wilderness Reserve, where you will spend three nights in luxury accommodation. Enjoy views of the Cederberg Mountain while taking nature walks and exploring the bushman art.
Day Eight to Ten
Drive through the winelands on your way to Swellendam where you will spend two nights and Klippe Rivier Country House. This old Cape Dutch Homestead offers great accommodation, and good wine and food. Not to mention the bird life, in particular owls.
Day Ten, Eleven to Thirteen
Set off along the Garden Route through Knysna to Plettenberg Bay
Today venture into the Garden Route for an easy three hour beautiful coastal drive, traveling through Knysna and onto Plettenberg Bay and three nights in a Garden Suite at the popular Hunters Country House. A member of Relais et Chateaux and awarded South Africa’s Hotel of the year it is a unique family owned and managed county house hotel. Surrounded by beautiful gardens and indigenous forests the hotel offers luxurious, individually thatched suites, each furnished with antique pieces, fireplaces, and private patios. If you are able to tear yourself away from the tranquil hotel environment, the stunning pool and fabulous restaurant return to Knysna to taste some of their famous Oysters; visit the beautiful Tsitsikamma forest; Natures Valley or some of the other wonders of the area. Play some golf at the famous 18 hole at Fancourt in George or on the magnificent Knysna heads themselves; Take a train ride along the coast on the steam driven Outeniqua Choo-tjoe. Your options are endless!

Day Thirteen
After a pleasant morning return your car to George airport and take a domestic flight to Cape Town to connect with your International flight home.
