Buffalo attacks ranger

Johannesburg – An Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife field ranger was gored by a buffalo in the Hluhluwe Game Park in KwaZulu-Natal on Friday, paramedics said.

"Circumstances around what transpired are speculative, and it is thought that the man was on patrol when he happened upon the buffalo."

"The animal was allegedly startled and charged at the ranger, striking him on the side as he attempted to flee," Netcare911 said in a statement.

The ranger was in a serious but stable condition in the Netcare Bay Hospital.
