The Discover Scuba course is an introduction to scuba and takes only an hour or two. The dive is credited towards your PADI Open Water Dive certificate and a great way of discovering if scuba is for you.

The average dive depth is 6 metres/20 feet and the maximum depth is 12 metres/ 40 feet. A short safety brief is all you have to go through, all the rest is taken care of, equipment gearing up everything. You will dive with a qualified instructor or dive master and in some cases an assistant. So relax and let us introduce this awesome sport to you.

Whether you are a beginner or an intermediate sailor and would like to learn more about sailing we have various course options available for you to quickly learn the ropes and increase your Hobie Cat sailing pleasure. Sailing in Africa is especially rewarding because of the natural beauty that surrounds you will sailing on the waters of the Langebaan Lagoon. Based at the Cape Sport Center in Langebaan, Drum Africa is the only Hobie Cat School in South Africa. Drum Africa offers many courses to get you on the water and ready to sail. Adrenaline sailing at its best! Hobie Cat trips and charters include a qualified skipper and we offer flexible sailing programs from one hour up to a few days. You don’t need any previous experience. If you are experienced and just want to take the boat for the day we have options available as well. We have a 14ft, 16ft and 18ft available for chartering. Drum Africa is the only Hobie Cat school and charter company in South Africa teaching on a 16ft and 18ft Hobie Cat from the beautiful and picturesque Langebaan lagoon.

Cape Town offers the best environment to learn to scuba dive because the bays and coves are sheltered. This allows you a relaxed learning experience without having to contend with surf and currents. We offer the full range of PADI course from Discover Scuba through to Instructor.

South Africa has a coastline that is approximately 3000km long; that said, you can imagine how much surf we have along our coastline. South Atlantic storms kicking up swell that has to reach us first. Because of our proximity to the South Pole and the southern ocean and of course our LONG coastline we can offer many different surf spots all the way along the coach. Each offering their own conditions which makes it accessible to everyone whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advance.

Operating from both Cape Town and Langebaan down the West Coast, the sailing opportunities are endless.

We recently introduced the Open Bic into our fleet of Hobie Cats. This little French boat is brilliant for kids aged 6-10 who are starting out sailing.

We also facilitate sunrise and sunset cruises on the Langebaan Lagoon as well as the Knysna Lagoon.

Whale watching and dolphin watching cruises are great fun for the whole family.
