Joel Parkinson earned his second Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay title on Wednesday, posting a dominant performance in the 40 minute final where he convincingly defeated Damien Hobgood in classic one to 1.5 metre waves at Supertubes.

The final day of the Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay is underway as one to 1.5 metre waves continue to peel down the Supertubes point.

Event No. 5 of 10 on the 2009 ASP World Tour, the Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay is coming off an historic day of competition that saw cranking surf, perfect scores and some major upsets. Today’s culmination will crown a champion by day’s end and play an important role in the 2009 ASP World Title race.

Tom Curren (USA) claimed victory in the first round of the highly anticipated Clash of the Icons against fellow surfing legend Mark Occhilupo (AUS) at the Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay this morning.

Clash of the Icons will be taking place tomorrow morning the 14th of July 2009 at 07:15AM.  Tom Curren will be taking on Mark Occhilupo, currently they both have 8 wins.  Mark will be surfing a 6.3 shaped by Jason Stevenson and Mark will be surfing a 5.11 shaped by Al Merrick, Kelly's main shaper.

Kelly Slater will be getting up early to commentate this one.

The Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay got underway this morning as long lines of one to 1.5 metre swell groomed by an ideal 10 knot SW wind peeled down the iconic Supertubes point.

JEFFREYS BAY, South Africa (Sunday, July 12, 2009) – Small surf in the one-to-two foot (0.5 metre) range has forced another lay day for the Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay, the fourth consecutive day that the waves have not been suitable for the R2.7 million Stop No. 5 of 10 on the 2009 ASP World Tour.

Day 3 of the Billabong Pro is is off for the day, perfect 2 feet waves but inconsistant.  Next call at 9:00AM tomorrow morning.  

South African junior girl surfers Sarah Baum and Bianca Buitendag caused major upsets by defeating highly rated boys on Day 1of the inaugural Billabong Occy Grom Comp at Boneyards in Jeffreys Bay on Friday.

South African Devyn Mattheys, Australian Heath Joske and Torrey Meister from Hawaii secured coveted wildcards into the Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay today when they won their respective heats in the VonZipper Wildcard Trials.

The Billbong Pro is set to start at 11:00AM today.  Conditions at the moment are light cross shores with 2-3ft predicted.  We will have some more updates at the end of day 1.
