Surfing in South Africa

A total of 47 young surfers from all corners of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) competed in the first event of this year's Lizzard Tag Series which was held in contestable surf at St Mikes on Sunday (June 12).

After a week of huge surf in the area, participants in the Lizzard event were greeted by muddy but good contestable waves which were ideal for the format used in this type of team orientated contest.

The Surfing South Africa (SSA) Board of Director's have ratified the selection of the South African Surfing Team which will compete in the 2010 International Surfing Association (ISA) World Surfing Games in Punta Hermosa, Peru from October 19 -27.

This pic i took 2 days ago on the West Coast, Bones, the conditions perfect again, good solid swell, 4-6 foot hollow wave, left and right.  We had fun,  conditions good this weekend again.  See you in the water.

Its that time again, surf is cranking along the point breaks on our coast,  from way up the west coast to right up the east coast.  Epic surf conditions at the moment, no wind, glassy conditions, consistent swell.  I had some surf buddies who spent a week or more on some epic west coast surf trip, check the pic.  Get out there and get some surf.  Conditions just right for lots of "board meetings"
