Tiger Nationals & Hobie Spinnaker Regatta

In March 2008, Langebaan hosted the Hobie Cat Tiger and Dragoon Worlds, a very successful event.  Langebaan will once again play host to the Tiger National and Hobie Spinnaker Regatta from the 07th - 10th of August 2009. 

The event will be run by the Hobie Cat Youth Club and will be supported by Friday Island.

Cape of Smiles

Cape of Smiles, Bed, Breakfast and Self Catering Accommodation (TGCSA 3 Star), is situated in a relaxing and quiet spot of Langebaan, in what is known as the Old Country Club, with full off street parking, our three bed and breakfast bedrooms are all doubles with no single bed facilities. Hobie Tiger for Olympics

The IHCA has put forward to the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) the recommendation that the Hobie Tiger be considered for the 2012 Olympics. ISAF has now agreed to put this on their May Meeting Agenda for discussion.

 

Hobie Tigers Race Offshore Race

Hobie Tigers joined the Mykonos offshore race on Friday,  14 Tigers registered for the event.  We launched off Milnerton beach for an exciting downwind start in 25 knots of wind.  We immediately saw one or two casualties in the first few minutes of the race.  With spinnakers up most raced off to the shore at Big Bay.  The wind died to 4-5 knots and forced most of us to hug and work the coastline looking for a bit more wind.  The wind came up and from Koeberg th

Mykonos Offshore Race

This weekend saw the biggest fleet in the history of the Mykonos Offshore Race from Cape Town to Langebaan. With 80 yachts crossing the start line from Cape Town in good conditions, winds of 22-25 knots in Table Bay.  A spectacle that will remain in my mind with 80 keel boats with their spinnakers up.

Harrison's House

Harrison's House is situated flanked the West Coast National Park on the one side and overlooks the Langebaan Lagoon on the other side. Because of its location Harrison's House offers wonderful birdlife and wildlife like hares and duikers (small buck) run free in close proximity.

Gecko Beach House

Gecko Beach House was built and decorated by Gay and Doug Portsmouth and they have put their passion into it. Created for comfort and style, Gecko Beach House offers one of the best locations in Langebaan, right on the beach overlooking the Lagoon, it's quiet, private and serene.

At the Rocks, aptly named because of the beautiful rock collection located on the property and overlooking the beautiful West Coast Nature Reserve, is the perfect get away for families and couples.

Sunset over Africa

February in the Cape is certainly one of the best months, warm evenings with spectacular sunsets over the west coast.  I captured this picture last week of just one of the sunsets that we have been having.  Sunsets in Africa are just incredible!  Join us for this experience.
