Cape Town gets thumbs up!

A small snapshot exit poll conducted at Cape Town International Airport by the Western Cape government has yielded overwhelmingly positive results, says Western Cape Tourism MEC, Alan Winde.  
 
The poll was conducted on January 11 to measure foreign visitors’ perceptions and experiences of the Western Cape. Although only 25 people from 14 countries were interviewed, the Western Cape scored an overall holiday experience rating of 8,5 out of 10.

In October last year the first white lion cubs were born in the wild at Sanbona Wildlife Reserve. As is often the case with first time lion mothers, her inexperience showed and unfortunately she abandoned the cubs after about ten days.

Table Moutain in the running for the New 7 Wonders spot

Table Mountain has made it into the final round of the New 7 Wonders of Nature contest beating the Atacama Desert in Chile, the Azure Window in Malta and the Rock of Aphrodite in Cyprus for a spot on the shortlist.

The top 28 wonders from around the world were announced today, Tuesday July 21, by the New7Wonders Foundation in Zurich, Switzerland.  The finalists include legendary sites such as the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, the Grand Canyon in the USA and the Amazon in South America.

Heavy rain and winter storms

Heavy rainfall and strong winds are hitting the Western Cape this week, and another front is expected today (June 25). Authorities are advising residents and visitors to avoid False Bay beaches and Sea Point, and to stay out of the sea. Snow is also forecast in the mountains.
