After only a few months of work we are proud to announce that the building has been completed on the new Hobie Cat shop in Langebaan. The shop has been operating on a full time basis for some time now and we are so pleased with all the support .
The shop stocks spares, equipment, sailing gear and more. These include equipment like Beach Dolley wheels for Hobie Cats and an amazing range of Hobie Cat branded clothing. New and second hand boats are also available and we also stock the range of Hobie Kayaks.
In March 2008, Langebaan hosted the Hobie Cat Tiger and Dragoon Worlds, a very successful event. Langebaan will once again play host to the Tiger National and Hobie Spinnaker Regatta from the 07th - 10th of August 2009.
The event will be run by the Hobie Cat Youth Club and will be supported by Friday Island.

Hobie Tigers joined the Mykonos offshore race on Friday, 14 Tigers registered for the event. We launched off Milnerton beach for an exciting downwind start in 25 knots of wind. We immediately saw one or two casualties in the first few minutes of the race. With spinnakers up most raced off to the shore at Big Bay. This weekend saw the biggest fleet in the history of the Mykonos Offshore Race from Cape Town to Langebaan. With 80 yachts crossing the start line from Cape Town in good conditions, winds of 22-25 knots in Table Bay. A spectacle that will remain in my mind with 80 keel boats with their spinnakers up.
This weekend saw the 15th Cape Point Challenge, with almost 60 boats entered it was a great success. Winds varying from 30knots to 5 knots in big swells off Smitswinkel bay made for a hard sailed event. Well done to Matthew Whitehead and Caleen for their oustanding performance.
