Hobie 16 Nationals

The Hobie 16 National Championship will be held at the Point Yacht Club in Durban. Racing will start mid-day on Friday the 10th of April and will finish mid-day on the 13th of April.

Notice of race will still be sent out, but feel free to contact us for more information.

Durban offers great autumn weather and awesome sailing waters and the challenge is on as sailors from all standings can compete with 40 other sailors.

The Point Yacht club will be hosting their Easter Regatta during this time so it should be great fun for all.

Cape Point Challenge 2009

It's time for the Cape Point Challenge again. This annual event is held every year without fail and inspite the weather as it will be this year, on the 14th of March 2009. A wonderful adrenalin filled challenge for hobie cat sailors or all ages as they leave the Fish Hoek Beach sailing toward Cape Point where they turn around a bouy and head back. For those who do not sail, there is always a great atmosphere at the club where the smell of food will tantelize your tastebuds. Or just join us for a drink and some sailing conversation.

Intermediate Course

The Intermediate course is designed for the sailor who has been on the water for a year or more and has decided to take it further and get into racing. You will need to know about the finer set-up of the boat and the basic racing rules and starting procedures. Duration: 2 days, includes tuition, course material and sailing Cost for 2 day course: R3800-00 per person.

Beginners Course

The Beginner course is for the first time buyer of a Hobie Cat, we cover the basics of sailing a Hobie Cat and most importantly - Safety. We teach you how to rig and derig your boat and of course how to sail your Hobie in light winds for the first time. In Hobie Cat terms what goes down must come up, so we will teach you how to right your boat in the event that you capsize. Duration: 2 days, includes tuition, course material and sailing Cost for 2 day course: R3800-00 per person.

One Day Course

If you are serious about making this your hobbie, our one day course is for you. It will help you make up your mind as to whether or not you want to make sailing a long term part of your life or not. Duration: 6 hours, includes tuition, course material and sailing. Cost for 1 day course: R1800-00 per person.

Half Day Course

The Half day course will teach you the basics of wind direction, helming a Hobie Cat, main sheet and jib sheet function as well as sail shape. Duration: 4 hours, includes tuition and sailing. Cost for a half- day course: R1200-00 per person.
